Indie Artist: Marm
There might be hell in these bones, but there’s heaven in this track. “There’s Hell in These Bones Now”, the debut track from alternative artist, Marm, has an atmospheric ambience, with crunchy guitar and smooth vocals.
From the artist:
“There’s Hell in These bones Now” is the first single from MARM, a new solo project from Vancouver based Irish artist Jack Marmion.
After years cutting his teeth in the Dublin Punk scene with various bands (Over Being Under, Milestones, Blood Culture), this project started life with a group of demos put together in late 2019 and the idea of forming a band when moving to Vancouver at the start of 2020. But with COVID-19 locking everything down a month after his move, he realized that making music that way was not going to be possible for a long time.
Through the use of a limited home recording setup and file sharing with friends back across the water, he sought to develop the first song with long time collaborator and producer Killian McAuley (Crywank, Paranoid Visions, Martin Hayes). Though his first solo release this single also features some of his bandmates past with lyrics co-written by Craig Hewett and a driving bass line played by Rafino Murphy (Uly).
The track itself is a short but assertive mission statement on the kind of music that MARM wants to make. It’s a noisy yet melodic, effects laden jam with roots in hardcore and punk while pulling off into the ethereal spaced out world of shoegaze and drone.
