London based artist Eli.P is an instant classic; with his newest album ‘Opals’
There are elements of hip hop, jazz, electronica and pop at work, as well as psychedelic undertones that help to build the overall soundscape that the EP conveys.
Today at our office we played this in our speaker system and the entire team had a blast listening.
It sends moods to your body left and right and its so surprisingly powerful without lyrics.
You can tell during the production process he feels everything thing that goes into the records.
We highly suggest you purchase this from bandcamp and we are so excited to see where his future takes him!
More from the artist: It has been eight years since Eli’s last release with the Leicester-based Mud Collective, and during that time the multi-disciplined artist has been further honing his skills across the board, culminating in the creation of this new project.
The EP serves as a showcase for Eli’s progress within his craft and as a fine indicator of how much he is evolving into his own sound.
The title of the project stems from the precious stone’s notoriety for enhancing self-esteem and self-worth, which is a reflection of Eli’s musical journey. Opals is also notable for its encouragement of positivity and the reminder that you reap what you sow, a philosophy which aligns itself with Eli’s own personal ethos.
From a production point of view, Opals draws on the musical influences that have been a constant in Eli’s life since his childhood days.
Eli is not alone on this project, as he is joined by two featured artists who lend their own brand of artistry to the mix. On CYIT we hear the vocal work of UK raper, BADBOULEVARD, and on the PS/BS (Euphoria Remix), we find a contribution from one of Eli’s previous collaborators, South London MC/vocalist, Mickey Lightfoot.
All in all, the Opals EP is a bold undertaking, from an artist who is at ease with taking risks with his art and one who has the prowess to make those risks succeed.
The deluxe version comes complete with remixes from fellow beatmakers Groovekiller and Truefunktion, as well as a V.I.P remix from Eli.P himself. Available on Bandcamp and all streaming sites!
