This isn't your daughter's "kid's music!" Combine Kurt Cobain with Katy Perry and a slight splash of Sesame Street
and you have the playful rebellion of Homescool! Founded by father-daughter duo, Dan and Lennon Epand, Homescool features guest performances from notable recording artists, and a collective of rad kids, whose parents happen to be rock stars, like Imagine Dragons, Fitz and The Tantrums, & The Who.
During the last year of remote learning, whenever Lennon would hit burnout on her classwork, she and her dad would channel those big feels into writing and recording music together—thus the band name Homescool. Dan, known for his membership in alternative rock bands Nico Vega and TWWO, serves as Homescool's songwriter, producer, and video director.
Lennon is the band's 8-year-old co-writer and front woman. Homescool’s music is topically kid-centric, covering everything from lost cats, to Friday night plans, to a Zoom birthday. But unlike the traditional "bops" for kids, this music and production has an edge and aesthetic perfect for commercial radio and is suitable for adults. Parents and non-parents alike will find themselves listening with nary a kid in sight!
The single carries some very electric vibes which great vocals and great instrumentation. It is very cohesive and very easy on the ears to listen to, certainly a track to add to a playlist. Do yourself a favor and stream the track below!
