Sticks and Stone: Marimba

Untitled.jpeg

Sticks and Stone will bring you on a fun journey, taking you through a little of *every* style of music via the marimba (also known as the “grand piano of xylophones”

Sticks and Stone finds inspiration from the percussion ensembles and solo material of university settings, from folk marimba-band traditions of Latin America and Africa,

With a Jam Element this group is a blast to listen to, with all of the music they create, its a wonder how they haven’t become massively successful.

Sometimes we come across music in our review process that takes us by surprise, this is one of those times.

Sonically the project is incredible, combined with the pure and undeniable talent from the artist… it can only make for an amazing sound.

If you EVER get a chance to see these guys live, I would highly recommend it, they look incredible.

More From The Artist: “Sticks and Stone, founded by Stephen Stone, grew out of series of percussion ensemble experiments through time at the University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan, freelance performances and busking.  The concept morphed into a regular band in April 2017 when Stephen was asked to play for the Ford World Curling Championship, the Edmonton Motor Show and the Festival City Winds Ragtime and Riffs concert.  At that time, the group consolidated its other regular members, Jayden Beaudoin and Dale Osbaldeston.  Jayden and Stephen had known each other through summer work with the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa as early as 2009.  Dale and Stephen had performed together regularly while studying at Grant MacEwan University from 2014 to 2016.”
